Technical Support
=================
Comments and suggestions about WDC are welcome as well as any comments or
suggestions that you may have in terms of additional utilities you would
like to see written. I can be reached via the support board - TCBBS!
(813) 870-0697 or via USNet Mail or via BASNet.
WDC - Who Dropped Carrier v1.2
Bulletin/Hello screen generator of drop carrier calls for WC! 3.xx systems.
─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Operation
=========
WDC is fairly straight forward and most of the information you need to run
the program is in the help screen that can be viewed by running the program
with no parameters. This program scans the ACTIVITY.xxx file and creates
either a 'Hello' and/or 'Bulletin' file (depending on the file name you
enter) listing users that dropped carrier and some other basic information.
It is recommended that WDC be run as part of an event at a fixed time each
day - preferrably right after midnight. Finally, since this program is
date sensitive, please make sure your system date is set right.
(WDC requires BRUN45 to be available somewhere in the path)
Command line switches
=====================
WDC has only one command line parameter, and that is the name of the file
that contains configuration information for WDC. Case is not important
but the name of the configuration file is required. Make sure there is
at least one space between the name of the program and the name of the
configuration file.
correct way = WDC wdc.cfg
wrong way = WDCwdc.cfg
WDC <file name>
Denotes the name of the file that WDC will read it's run time parameters
from. This must be a valid Dos file name.
Configuration file
==================
The configuration file must be a regular ascii file. The first five
lines of the file must contain specific information that must ALWAYS
be present. Any security levels that you wish WDC to bypass must be
listed one to a line, starting on line six. You can enter as many
different levels that you wish WDC to bypass as long as you only enter
one per line. If you do not enter any security levels to bypass, all
calls are processed by WDC. *NOTE* The names of these security levels
must match the security level names defined in MAKEWILD.
Typical Applications
====================
[Command line]
WDC WDC.CFG <- What you would type at the dos prompt or have
in a batch (.BAT) file.

[Contents of WDC.CFG]
TCBBS! <-Line #1, BBS name
C:\wc30\activity.001 <-Line #2, Full path & File name of log
C:\wc30\disp\hello1.bbs <-Line #3, Full path & name of 'Helloxx' file
(leave blank to bypass)
C:\wc30\bull\bull12.bbs <-Line #4, Full path & name of 'bullxx' file
(leave blank to bypass)
YESTERDAY <-Line #5, Which day's info to scan log for
(Full log scanned if blank)
SYSOP <-Line #6, Security level to bypass (optional)
ADULT_VER <-Line #7, " " " " "
*NOTE* There must be a minimum of 5 lines in the configuration file if you
are running one node. However, if you do not wish to create either a Hellox
or Bullxx file, leave that line blank (line #3, Line #4). If line #5 is
blank the whole activity logs are processed. If line #5 contains the word
YESTERDAY then only activity for yesterday's date is scanned. You must have
atleast ONE file name defined for WDC to create and ONE Activity.xxx file
defined.
Multi Node
==========
WDC is able to process multiple Activity.xxx log files and combine the
information into one Output file. To do this you have to define the
logs you want to process in the WDC configuration file. The following
is an example of a typical configuration file that processes only
yesterday's activity for three nodes and creates one Hello file
(HELLO4.BBS) but no Bulletin file. Note that all users with security level
SYSOP are omitted from the output file.
